OHCO M.8 NEO vs Panasonic MAN1: Massage Chair Comparison
HEALING TOUCH · PREMIUM CHAIR COMPARISONS
OHCO M.8 NEO or Panasonic MAN1? Compare the details that affect your massage, your room and your everyday routine.
Choosing between these two chairs deserves more than a short feature checklist. The purchase is substantial, the chairs take up real space, and the right answer depends on how you like to be massaged. This guide breaks the decision into parts you can evaluate: body contact, neck positioning, leg and foot comfort, entry, controls, recline and ownership planning.
The M.8 NEO combines a dedicated neck mechanism with its back mechanism, side-opening doors and a broad selection of comfort features. The MAN1 centers on pressure-responsive rollers, detailed adjustments and a touchscreen controller. That gives you two different starting points. It does not establish a universal winner.
A quick way to build your shortlist
Start with the OHCO M.8 NEO
Current listed price: $14,999
Put the OHCO first on your list if you are particularly interested in a separate neck headrest, side-entry doors, zero-gravity positioning and multiple heat zones.
- Check the headrest’s contact against your neck.
- Try getting in and out using the doors.
- Allow side space for the doors at home.
Start with the Panasonic MAN1
Current listed price: $13,999
Put Panasonic first on your list if pressure feedback, adjustable massage settings and touchscreen operation are features you want to explore closely.
- Check the scan’s shoulder alignment.
- Compare comfortable roller and air intensities.
- Plan for recline space: it is not a wall-hugging model.
Prices above were checked against Healing Touch’s Shopify listings on October 3, 2026. All currently listed colors share the same selling price within each model. Use the linked product pages for updates.
01 · Massage mechanisms: what to compare beyond 4D and 5D
“4D” and “5D A.I.” describe each brand’s system. They are not an industry-wide points scale. The useful question is how the rollers travel, respond to your body and adjust within the areas you want massaged.
OHCO: coordinated back and neck mechanisms
The Sens8 NEO 4D mechanism works along the MaxTrack, while a separate mechanism in the headrest works at the neck. OHCO calls their coordinated operation MoveSync.
During your comparison, pay attention to the transition between neck and back contact. You may enjoy both working together, or prefer to adjust one area before settling into a session.
Panasonic: pressure feedback and targeting
The MAN1 uses the RealPro Ultra 5D A.I. mechanism, pressure-sensing feedback and the 1260P Acupoint Body Scan. Its SL-track extends the massage path toward the upper hamstrings.
Try a comfortable setting first. Then adjust the intensity and a target area to understand the range of control. Strong pressure and accurately placed pressure are different things.
How to test it: Ask to begin a fresh session rather than taking over halfway through somebody else’s program. Stay in a natural seated position during the scan. Describe any point that feels too high, low or firm so the team can help you explore the settings. Avoid deciding only from the first few roller movements.
02 · Neck and shoulders: alignment comes first
The same chair can contact two people very differently. Height is only part of the picture: torso length, shoulder position and how you sit also affect where the massage lands. The headrest should be positioned for you, not left wherever the previous shopper had it.
The OHCO’s Knead and Stretch Headrest gives you a dedicated neck contact point to evaluate. On the Panasonic, explore the Junetsu Ultra Kneading movement and the placement of the upper-back rollers. Neither feature name can tell you whether that contact will feel comfortable on your particular neck.
During your demonstration: Start gently, notice the contact location, then make one adjustment at a time. If you change the recline and the intensity together, it becomes harder to identify which adjustment improved the experience. Check that you can comfortably rest your head throughout the session.
03 · Arms, hands and getting into the chair
OHCO’s Easy Access Doors change how you approach the seat. If stepping over a fixed side enclosure feels awkward, make entry and exit a deliberate part of your comparison. Try the doors rather than assuming the photograph tells the whole story.
For arm massage, the M.8 NEO uses its Arms of Embrace air-cell system. The MAN1 has shaped palm contact within its arm air cells. These are different contact arrangements, so place your hands naturally and test a comfortable compression setting.
What to notice: Are your shoulders relaxed while your arms are positioned? Can your wrists rest without bending awkwardly? Can you use the controller and release your hands comfortably? Ask about the normal stop and exit sequence before beginning, so you know how to end the demonstration.
04 · Calves and feet: give them their own comparison
It is easy to focus on the back rollers and overlook the lower body. Give the leg and foot portion enough time to decide whether its pressure is enjoyable. A chair should suit your whole routine, including the areas you prefer to keep gentle.
The M.8 NEO pairs TheraElliptical calf kneading with foot rollers. The MAN1 combines wrap-around calf air massage with a sole mechanism offering kneading and shiatsu-style movements. Compare the moving contact and the air compression separately where the controls allow it.
Test three things: leg placement, sole contact and the amount of compression you prefer. Keep your knees and feet in a natural position. If you pull away from the foot contact or brace against the air pressure, ask to lower that setting and reassess. More intensity is not automatically more useful.
Bring the person who will use the chair most often. If several people will share it, each should test the leg and foot fit. An excellent fit for one household member does not guarantee the same experience for another.
05 · Heat, sound and the controls you will use every day
OHCO: several ways to shape the environment
The M.8 NEO offers warmth around the rollers and multiple body heat zones, plus Bluetooth audio, colored lighting and an aromatherapy feature. Its tactile remote provides physical buttons.
Test which of these you actually value. If you prefer a quiet, simple session, focus on the massage and switch optional features off. If you enjoy a more involved routine, explore them individually.
Panasonic: roller warmth and touchscreen adjustment
The MAN1 has infrared-heated rollers, Bluetooth audio, USB charging and a touchscreen remote. It also allows saved settings for up to three users.
Hold the controller yourself and adjust something without help. Check that the text, menus and pause controls are easy for you to use in a reclined position.
Evaluate warmth as a comfort feature rather than assuming that a larger list of heat locations will determine your choice. Give a setting time to feel familiar, and use the manufacturer’s operating guidance. Ask how to turn heat off without losing the massage settings you enjoy.
A useful daily-use test: Start a session, reduce intensity, change one area, pause, and return the chair upright. If somebody else has to operate all five steps for you, spend more time learning the controller before deciding.
06 · Programs and personalization
OHCO lists 18 automatic sessions, typically about 18 minutes long. Panasonic lists 12 automatic combinations across four session types and three durations: 10, 20 and 30 minutes. Those totals are organized differently, so compare the actual choices instead of simply counting them.
A large menu matters only if it contains sessions you will use. During your visit, identify one gentle everyday option and one more focused option. Ask whether you can adapt them without repeatedly rebuilding every setting. If a chair will be shared, discuss how the next user recalls their preferences.
Also consider the time you realistically have. A short routine before work and a longer evening session can call for different controls and program choices. You do not need the most complicated menu; you need a convenient route to the massage you enjoy.
07 · Recline, zero gravity and room planning
The M.8 NEO has zero-gravity positioning and a wall-hugging design listed at 6.25 inches of rear clearance. Furniture for Life lists the MAN1 as having neither zero gravity nor wall hugging. It still reclines, but reclining alone should not be described as zero gravity.
This difference can matter in a room where the chair must sit near a wall. Do not choose from the upright photograph or rear-clearance number alone. The feet extend forward, OHCO’s doors need side space, and both models need a workable delivery route.
Before ordering: Measure the available floor area, the narrowest doorway, hallway turns and any stairs. Mark the reclined footprint using the current manufacturer measurements. Check whether the location leaves enough space to walk around the chair and reach its controls.
Room fit and body fit should be checked together. A chair that fits the floor plan can still be awkward to enter, and a chair that feels comfortable can still block a doorway when reclined. Ask the team to review both before you commit to a location.
08 · Design and color choices
Healing Touch currently lists Pearl, Walnut and Midnight for the standard M.8 NEO, and Black and Ivory for the MAN1. Color names and photography help you narrow the choice, but display availability and lead time should be confirmed with the showroom.
When comparing appearance, think about the chair in use as well as upright. Bring photographs of nearby furniture and flooring if the chair will be a visible part of your living room. A large purchase should be comfortable to live with visually as well as physically.
Current prices: what the $1,000 difference means

| Latest listing | Check OHCO price | Check Panasonic price |
Use the difference to set your shortlist, then ask which features would justify it for you. If the OHCO’s doors or dedicated neck headrest solve a specific preference, they deserve hands-on evaluation. If you prefer the MAN1’s adjustment and fit, choosing the lower listed price does not require treating it as an inferior experience.
Compare the final quote rather than just the chair price. Ask what delivery and setup arrangements apply to your address and whether any stairs or special access affect the plan. Confirm current offers directly with Healing Touch; this dated comparison is not a guarantee that a promotion will continue.

Manufacturer height ranges are a starting point, not a promise of identical fit at every height. Check the neck, shoulders, seat and footrest together. Chair measurements also do not establish whether it will pass through your particular doorway when delivered or assembled.
Buyer tradeoffs: reasons to keep comparing
| Your priority | What to explore | What to check carefully |
|---|---|---|
| Dedicated neck contact | Start with the OHCO headrest | Position and comfortable pressure at your neck |
| Pressure-responsive rollers | Start with the MAN1’s feedback and controls | Target alignment across different intensities |
| Entry through opening sides | Try the OHCO doors | Side clearance and how easily you exit |
| Zero gravity near a wall | Explore OHCO’s positioning | Complete reclined footprint and door clearance |
| Touchscreen operation | Explore the MAN1 controller | Readability and reach while reclined |
| Lowest listed price of these two | MAN1 is currently $1,000 less | Final delivery/setup quote and your preferred fit |
Both chairs deserve a closer look if your priorities overlap. You may start with one model for a technical feature and finish with the other because its contact or controls suit you better. A comparison should help you ask better questions, not push you into a verdict before you sit down.
A more useful showroom comparison
Tell the team what you want to learn before beginning. “I want comfortable neck contact and a gentle foot massage” is more useful than “show me the best chair.” Bring room dimensions and include anyone who will regularly share the chair.
- Fit and entry. Sit naturally, check arm and leg placement, and learn how to stop and exit.
- A comfortable baseline. Begin with a moderate setting in each chair. Compare contact location before increasing intensity.
- Your main priority. Spend extra time on the area you care about most. Change one setting at a time.
- Secondary areas. Test the feet, calves and hands separately instead of judging only the back.
- Independent operation. Use the controller, pause the session and return upright yourself.
- Home and ownership plan. Review the delivery route, installation arrangements, current quote and applicable warranty documents.

Delivery, setup and service questions
Before ordering either chair, ask how it will reach your room, who assembles it, what you need to prepare and how service requests are handled. Give the team accurate information about stairs, elevators, narrow turns and building access.
Ask for the warranty documents that apply to the exact model and purchase, and review any coverage limits or optional extensions with the team. This article does not replace those documents or add a new warranty promise. Your purchase plan should be clear before delivery is arranged.
Frequently asked comparison questions
Which chair is better overall?
There is no universal winner. Choose based on comfortable body contact, usable controls and home fit. Start with the model whose features match your priorities, then compare the other before deciding.
Is the Panasonic MAN1 made in Japan?
Furniture for Life lists the MAN1’s manufacturing country as China. OHCO and Furniture for Life list the M.8 NEO as made in Japan. Brand origin and manufacturing location are different facts; neither replaces a hands-on fit comparison.
Does the MAN1 have zero gravity?
Furniture for Life lists zero gravity as “No” for the MAN1. It reclines, but recline alone is not the same feature. The M.8 NEO is listed with zero-gravity positioning.
Which chair needs less space behind it?
The M.8 NEO has a listed 6.25-inch wall-hugging clearance. The MAN1 is listed without wall hugging. Review the current installation guidance and the fully reclined footprint for either chair; do not estimate a safe MAN1 rear clearance from the OHCO specification.
Does 5D automatically beat 4D?
No. These labels are not a standardized ranking across brands. Compare the actual adjustments and how the mechanism feels at a comfortable setting on your body.
Which should a shorter or taller shopper try?
Use the listed height ranges to begin, then test shoulder alignment, neck contact and foot placement. Torso and leg proportions can matter as much as overall height. Anyone who will share the chair should also try it.
Which has the stronger massage?
Maximum intensity is not a useful universal verdict. Ask for a demonstration of each chair’s adjustment range and compare pressure you can comfortably enjoy, including the feet and air compression.
Are the color variants priced differently?
At the October 3, 2026 check, all three listed M.8 NEO colors were $14,999 and both MAN1 colors were $13,999. Check our product pages for subsequent changes.
