Understand the technology before you compare

A label describes part of the mechanism, not the complete experience. Compare the actual controls, track coverage and seating position for each model.

2D, 3D, 4D and 5D

Depth adjustment changes how far rollers press toward the body. Speed variation changes the rhythm. Brand-specific 3D+, 5D and AI names describe different systems; they are not a universal ranking. For dual mechanisms, check the upper and lower units separately.

S-track, L-track and SL-track

Compare the areas reached by the rollers, not just the track length. A longer track does not guarantee better neck alignment. The reviewed listings use S-track, L-track, SL-track, MaxTrack, WSL-track and split L-track names; ask to test their actual coverage.

Zero gravity and wall hugging

Zero gravity describes a recline position; wall hugging describes how the chair moves as it reclines. A small rear gap does not mean a small overall footprint. Measure the fully reclined length, width, side-door opening and delivery route.

Build your shortlist by what matters to you

These groups identify features to compare, not a claim that one chair is best for everyone. Use the linked models to check the complete specifications.

Your showroom and delivery checklist

Bring each user’s height, the room measurements and photos of the delivery route. During a demonstration, check the following points before comparing price.

  1. Neck and shoulders: run the scan and confirm that the rollers reach the intended area without pressing on the head.
  2. Pressure and coverage: try a full-body program, manual position controls, air intensity, foot rollers and any lower mechanism.
  3. Seat and legs: check hip width, calf pressure, foot position and how easily you can enter and leave the chair.
  4. Room and delivery: measure doorways, turns, stairs, reclined length and side-door openings; confirm assembly requirements.
  5. Ownership: request the exact warranty, service process, delivery scope, return terms and any optional coverage in writing.

Helpful answers

Massage chair buying FAQs

How much do massage chairs cost at Healing Touch?

The product cards and comparison chart show current Healing Touch prices. Prices vary by model and selected option. Use the budget filter to shortlist chairs, then compare fit, massage controls, delivery scope and warranty coverage before choosing.

Which massage chair brand should I compare first?

Start with your preferred massage feel, user size and room measurements. Healing Touch carries OHCO, Panasonic, Positive Posture, D.Core, KOYO, Bodyfriend and Luraco. Compare individual models because track, recline, heat and user-fit limits vary within a brand.

Does 5D mean a chair is better than 4D or 3D+?

No universal ranking follows from these labels. Compare adjustable roller depth, speed, body scanning, track coverage and how the chair feels on your body. Brand-specific names can describe different technologies. Ask to try both a gentle setting and your preferred stronger setting.

What is the difference between single and dual massage mechanisms?

A dual-mechanism chair uses separate upper and lower massage units. The two units may have different controls. DualTech lists a 4D upper and 2D lower unit; Pro AI lists two 4D units. Compare the lower-body coverage and adjustable settings rather than assuming all dual chairs are equivalent.

Do all of these massage chairs have zero gravity?

No. The reviewed Panasonic MAN1, MAK1 and MAF1 specifications list no zero-gravity feature. Other listed models include it where verified. Check the chart and exact model specification rather than assuming that every reclining chair offers the same position.

How much space does a massage chair need?

Measure upright and fully reclined dimensions, the stated rear gap and any side-door opening. Also measure the route into the room. A wall-hugging chair can still require a long floor area when reclined. Unlisted clearance must be confirmed in the matching manual.

How can I tell whether a chair will fit my height and weight?

Use the listed height range and maximum weight to narrow the options, then try the chair. Torso length, shoulder width, hip width and foot size also affect fit. In a shared household, test every intended user and confirm the scan and leg extension settings.

Are all Japanese-brand massage chairs made in Japan?

No. Brand origin and manufacturing location are different facts. The chart records the distributor’s model-specific information. D.Core Cirrus and Stratus require extra attention to the exact version. Ask Healing Touch to confirm the build label on the unit you plan to purchase.

Can I compare chairs at the Healing Touch showroom?

Call (972) 742-2500 to check which models are available for demonstration and arrange your visit. Bring a shortlist and your room measurements so the comparison can focus on massage feel, fit and installation requirements.

What should I confirm about delivery, warranty and returns?

Request the order-specific delivery scope, access requirements, assembly plan, estimated timing and return terms. Ask for the applicable warranty document, including parts, labor, in-home service, exclusions and usage limits. Coverage differs by model and build; another retailer’s advertised terms do not automatically apply to your Healing Touch order.
